A PEDESTRIAN has died after being hit by a car on the A24 at Ashington yesterday afternoon.

The 47-year-old man, from Henfield, died at the scene following the collision with a Peugeot 307.

The driver of the car, a man from Worthing, was unhurt but shocked.

The emergency services were called at 2.30pm to a collision between the Peugeot and pedestrian, southbound, just north of the Ashington turn off.

The road was closed southbound up to Buck Barn but re-opened shortly after the incident.
