A body has been found after a major rescue operation at Beachy Head today (March 30).
Police were called to reports that someone was seen in the water at the foot of the cliffs shortly after 11am.
Initially, it was thought the person was alive.
Eastbourne coastguards, police, and the RNLI were involved in the operation.
It was later discovered the person, thought to be a man, was deceased.
Arrangements were made for Coastguard and the RNLI lifeboat to arrange recovery when safe to do so.
Around 4pm the lifeboat was launched to recover the body.
According to Sussex Police, the coroner’s office has been informed.
