January 14:

Miles Holmes. 29, of Pensford Drive, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a breath sample at Eastbourne police station on October 23. He also pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer, at Seaside Road, Eastbourne, and a further assault, at Wartling Road, Eastbourne, on the same date. The court made a community order with a requirement of 40 days unpaid work and banned him from driving for 18 months.

Ryan Huckstep, 35, of Lacelles Terrace, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to intentionally exposing his genitals, intending that someone would see them and be caused alarm or distress. The offence took place at Terminus Road, Eastbourne, on September 30. The court made a community order and fined him £50.

Simon Richens, 47. of Langney Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to stealing Armani fragrance worth £52, from Boots in the Arndale Centre, on December 24 and to stealing food worth £17.50, from Sainsburys, in the Arndale Centre, on the same day. The court gave him an 18-month conditional discharge.

January 18:

Sophie Henderson, 28, of Seaside Road, Eastbourne, was sent to prison for a total of 26 weeks after she pleaded guilty to four charges of assault by beating and a further charge of assaulting a police officer.

The offences took place at Langley’s pub, Pevensey Road, Eastbourne, on July 30 last year. She also pleaded guilty to being in possession of a quantity of crack cocaine on the same date. Magistrates said the reason for the prison sentence was because the assaults involved weapons and were committed while drunk.

January 19:

Bobby Cribben, 18, of Susans Road, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating and using threatening behaviour. The offences took place at Eastbourne on September 21 last year. The court made a community order with a requirement to attend a domestic abuse programme and ordered him to pay £30 compensation.

Jacob Townsend, 22, of Green Street, Eastbourne, pleaded guilty to assaulting a woman by beating. The offence took place at Eastbourne on December 13.

The court made a community order with a requirement to attend a domestic abuse programme and to carry out 140 hours of unpaid work. He was also ordered to pay £50 compensation and the court made a restraining order.

John Turner, 34, of Canute Close, Eastbourne, was found guilty of assaulting a woman by beating. The offence took place at Eastbourne on October 20.

He pleaded guilty to causing damage to a television on the same date and to failing to surrender to custody. He was fined a total of £295 and the court made a community order with a requirement to participate in a domestic abuse programme.
