Staff at a services between Horsham and Crawley were ‘threatened with a toilet brush’ in a bizarre disagreement over social distancing.

Inspector Darren Taylor said his team were called to the reports of a male waving the brush in staff members’ faces at Pease Pottage services this morning.

In an update, Inspector Taylor said the incident turned out to be a ‘disagreement over social distancing and using the toilets’.

He confirmed no arrests were made as a result of the ‘slight misunderstanding’ but words of advice were given.

Inspector Taylor added: “How the toilet brush became embroiled into it we really don’t know.”

The toilet brush has now been returned to its cubicle, he said.
