A suspected Second World War ordinance was discovered on Pagham beach this morning.

Police Community Support Officers from Arun were stationed at the ‘very stormy’ beach this morning after the item was found, according to a police tweet.

Arun Police said there was no impact on the public but asked residents to avoid the southern end of the spit for a few hours.

At 12.50pm, police tweeted again to give the all clear.
