FOOTNOTES: A very odd feeling walking the streets without a dog. People also seem to look at you somewhat oddly. A friend suggested that I overcome this by carrying a lead and I am still thinking about this. It has been some time since I went into Brighton. If I am going to London, I prefer to go via Lewes, where it is easier to get to the station and park from where I live. However my mobile phone has decided to give up the ghost and I needed a new one. I am, thank heavens, not one of those people, who, having reached a maturity of years, sneers at any modern technology and I enjoyed the obvious enthusiasm and knowledge of the very young male who took me through the latest models, until we mutually agreed on a moderately priced one that would suit my fairly simple needs. Whilst never describing myself as a computer buff, I would be lost without my mobile and laptop, For years I wrote on a manual typewriter and I still marvel at the ease with which I turn out scripts, short stories, (have just won an award), and the everlasting autobiography on the computer.

For those who wonder, yes, I am still being asked if I will get a replacement for Jack. The answer, currently is no, but I can remember when, after the death of one of my beloved Golden Retrievers, I exclaimed vehemently that I would never have another dog. Within three weeks, I was watching a puppy chase his tail around my lounge carpet. It is called being human.

Go safely this week and every week.
