Eastbourne teen arrested in murder probe is released on bail

A 17-year-old girl from Eastbourne, who was arrested as part of a murder investigation, has been released on bail until April.

The teenager, and two others were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender in connection with the death of a 52-year-old man at his home in Mayfield last week.

A 17-year-old boy from Crowborough was last night charged with the murder of Paul Jefferies who was found dead at his home.

The boy from Crowborough, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of killing Mr Jefferies on Tuesday (February 23). The boy will appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court this morning (Tuesday).

Mr Jefferies, 52, was found dead by police who called at his home in Coggins Mill Lane on Thursday (25 February) after concerns had been expressed that he had not been seen for a few days.

A post mortem found that Mr Jefferies had died from multiple injuries.
