Eastbourne primary school receives technology award
An Eastbourne school has received a national ICT award for its use of technology in the classroom.
Last month Langney Primary School received the ICT Mark – a national award, which recognises schools making good use of technology to support teaching, learning and school administration.
The school can now display the award on its website as a sign of its high quality use of technology.
Headteacher Julie Prentice said, “We are delighted to be awarded the ICT Mark. It recognises our positive approach to the use of technology and the benefits it is bringing to our children.
“As a flagship school in computing and a centre of digital excellence, technology is used in every aspect of learning. It is essential our children are equipped for the modern world.”
The school underwent an extensive assessment by inspectors from the education technology association Naace before it received the award.
Inspectors were impressed by the school’s use of technology in the classroom.
Naace CEO Mark Chambers said, “Langney Primary School thoroughly deserves the accolade of an ICT Mark accreditation. They clearly demonstrate how important it is to take a whole school approach to using technology in schools.”
Preparation for the assessment was led by computing teacher Mark Dawson.
He said, “This award shows recognition of the excellent digital work that is taking place at our school.
“Applying for the award really brought into focus the ICT that we are doing each and every day. All the children and staff deserve credit for this achievement.”
