Breaking into the big time?

A LITTLEHAMPTON band are on a collision course with stardom, and will travel along the coast to prove their worth.

The Breakers, a four-piece rock and punk band, Bungle, Ricky Ashcroft, Lee Ashcroft and Dave Thomas, will play Hove's Old Market next Thursday, February 28, after topping BEATtheMIX, Sussex and Hampshire's unsigned bands' chart.

Formed in January, 2007, The Breakers have been gigging in and around Littlehampton ever since, and will now play to industry professionals in the hope of taking their career to new heights.

Laurence Parker-Brown, of BEATtheMIX, said: "After recording their debut EP at Red Room Studios, in Brighton, in the summer last year, they have gone from strength to strength, developing a mature and directed sound."

The band will compete against other BEATtheMIX chart-toppers, including Rubylux, Rizzle and Tribal Vibe, for the titles of best band and original act. There will also be a best solo act category.
