Stage show for TV series Heartbeat

The first ever stage production of ITV's highly-successful Sunday evening 60s police drama Heartbeat, is coming to the Devonshire Park Theatre stage from April 4-9, starring some of the original TV cast members.

Heartbeat was a British police drama series set in 1960s North Riding of Yorkshire and broadcast on ITV in 18 series between 1992 and 2010, and was originally a vehicle for Nick Berry.

It was made by ITV Studios (formerly Yorkshire Television) at the Leeds Studios and on location.

Heartbeat first aired on Friday April 10 1992, and was later moved to Sunday evenings. The 372nd and final episode aired on Sunday September 12 2010.

    Based on The Constable series of novels by Nicholas Rhea, Heartbeat’s audiences consistently exceeded 10 million viewers and the show was constantly in the top five television programmes across all the channels.

    Now it comes to the stage, for the first time, starring show regulars David Lonsdale who played the loveable David Stockwell and Steven Blakeley who played PC Geoff Younger. They are joined by a strong cast including Hollyoaks star Matt Milburn, playing handsome copper PC Joe Malton.

    Other favourite characters including Gina Ward and Bernie Scripps will also be making an appearance in this production which, with use of video footage, a 60s soundtrack and a brilliant set, recreates the atmosphere of rural settings.
