When asked why, the band said: “We shot our previous videos in Ireland and Wales which was a lot of fun. This song though needed something different. The subject matter is all about growing up and striving to be the best you can be.

Eastbourne is the town where we have gone through that journey together and it was important for us to pay homage to it.”

Homage is right as the video opens with dawn shots of Eastbourne’s beloved band stand and pier before whisking viewers away to the stage of the newly refurbished Royal Hippodrome Theatre where legendary performers Charlie Chaplin and Harry Houdini once trod the boards.

The video even travels to the band’s rehearsal rooms and features local bar Hudsons where some of the lyrics were penned.

For a band making their way on the national stage, this band certainly haven’t forgotten their roots.

The song ‘Battles of my Youth’ is taken from the band’s upcoming new album Rise, and you can catch the band at their launch show at Eastbourne’s Underground Theatre on Saturday April 2. Tickets on sale at cityofashes.bigcartel.com
