Sidley suffer third defeat in a row

SIDLEY slumped to their third successive defeat in Sussex Division Two with a 177-run hammering at home to Cuckfield.

The hosts, admittedly beset by injuries and unavailability, were simply outplayed in all facets of the game and once again the batting folded like a pack of cards.

Skipper Scott Woodroffe lamented: "It was absolutely shocking, just dreadful. We were struggling for players and we ended up having some guys from the third team but you couldn't put it down to them - they tried hard in the field. It was just one of those days where nothing went right at all and there's always one during the season"

The abject batting rut the Gullivers outfit have been enduring of late seemed to rub off on the fielders. Tom Mole (100 not out) and overseas player Jason Oates (97 not out) were both dropped before going on to make telling contributions in a Cuckfield total of 277-3.

Sidley were shot out for 100 in reply with Rod Candfield claiming 7-29. Woodroffe top-scored on 24.
