Leaders H&B make it four out of four

H&B scored two tries in either half to earn a 30-0 victory and remain top of the table with four wins out of four.
From the start H&B were camped in the Vigo half and they opened the scoring after only three minutes with a well-struck penalty from full-back Harry Walker.

Hide AdThe H&B forwards dominated every play and Kit Claughton fed the backs with quality ball. The centres’ passes all went to hand and left winger Tim Sills burst through a desperate defending tackle to score a well-worked try in the corner.
Vigo had no answer to the H&B attack and for once a slice of good fortune came H&B’s way as Sills controlled an awkwardly bouncing ball to go over the line for another try, giving H&B a 13-0 half time lead.
Vigo were no pushover and played hard, but despite some heroic work from their pack, they had no real answer to the H&B attack.
Number eight John Hanagarth, who was voted man of the match by the home club, scored two second half tries. The first was a well-taken effort as he ran through the defence and the second was a pushover try at the base of the scrum.

Hide AdH&B, who gave a first XV debut to Adam Baker as a replacement, sealed an excellent bonus point victory with a try from Chris Stern, which was converted by Walker.
Vigo worked very hard in defence, but were ultimately unable to cope with the H&B attack and keeping the home team to nil was a major feather in H&B’s cap.
