ROFFEY ROCKED BY HANKS

SATURDAY'S game at The Sportsfield was a tale of two left-arm spinners with Littlehampton's Chris Hanks eventually coming out on top.

Electing to field first, Littlehampton skipper Paul Wells hoped that the track would misbehave early on and gain his side the early advantage. And the first two wickets came quickly enough, with both openers out for 37.

But then New Zealander all-rounder, Mark Jefferson, and Roffey captain Simon Shivnarain put their side into clear water at 146-3. Already dismissed was the first of Hanks' handful, James Banner stumped by Andy Northcote, who went on to claim another three catches off Hanks' bowling.

Then '“ partly assisted by a couple of pieces of awful running '“ Littlehampton turned the screw. Jefferson, who until that point had looked in little trouble, striking nine boundaries in his 78, snicked one to Northcote.
