With the clash seemingly drifting towards extra time a touch of class brought Town the reward their overall more purposeful tactics deserved. Dan Barnard rolled the ball into the feet of Tubon and his sharp turn drew a foul from Common centre half Chris Steward in the penalty area. Referee Philip Surlis pointed immediately to the spot and up stepped Mitchell to confidently stroke home his 17th goal of the season.

Town remained resolute for a tense final ten minutes and the final whistle signalled gleeful celebrations as Town booked their final date with either Rustington or Pease Pottage Village.

Uckfield: Leach, Walker, G Sawyer, Mitchell, A Barnard, Elsey, Young, Hickman, D Barnard, R Sawyer, Tubon.
