Judo club given new lease of life

TRAINING sessions at Bexhill Judo Club have been given a new lease of life following the acquisition of new floor matting.

The Bexhill Amateur Athletic Club-based organisation has received 7,000 worth of equipment courtesy of Action in Rural Sussex.

"We've been going a long time, 25 years or more," explained coach Jason Meek. "The last mat was as old as the club itself and it was ancient. It was an old canvas mat and I've been to other clubs and they've not even seen them. It was just worn out and old fashioned, but the new one fills the whole place and it's all colour co-ordinated."

The club, which boasts around 40 members, celebrated the news with a special presentation on Saturday morning, featuring representatives of Action in Rural Sussex and the British Judo Association.

Anybody interested in judo should contact Jason on 214912 or simply turn up at a training session from 7-10pm on Wednesdays and 10am-1pm on Saturdays.
