Jimmy chalks up hat-trick of wins

The 26-year-old won three matches at the Glasgow Open on Friday before bowing out in the last 16 on Sunday.

Robertson began his campaign with a 4-2 win over qualifier Oliver Lines despite losing the opening frame to a break of 85.

The world number 50 hit back, however, by reeling off the next three with runs of 71 and 45. Lines comfortably clinched the next to stay alive only for Robertson to seal victory with the help of a 36 break in frame six.

Robertson followed that up with another 4-2 success against former professional Adam Wicheard. The former world amateur champion went two-up for the loss of just 12 points via runs of 56 and 44.

Wicheard edged the third despite a top break of only 18, but a 73 at the start of the fourth put Robertson 3-1 up. Wicheard won a lengthy fifth frame before Robertson got over the line in the sixth.

Robertson then pipped 43rd-ranked Xiao Guodong 4-3 after winning all the odd numbered frames. Breaks of 39 and 42 gave Robertson the first, 40 and 37 put him 2-1 up, a 46 made it 3-2 and 31 helped finish the job.

Robertson’s run came to an end with a 4-1 reverse against 29th-ranked Andrew Higginson despite edging the opener with runs of 36 and 31.

St Leonards-based world number 16 Mark Davis beat qualifier Andrew Milliard 4-0 before being edged out 4-3 by Anthony McGill. Davis compiled a break of 102 in both matches.
