GOLDS JUST EDGED OUT

THERE IS no way that Littlehampton should have come away from Leylands Park with nothing on Tuesday night, but some poor finishing failed to match the excellent approach play.

Twice in the final six minutes, with Burgess Hill leading 2-1, headers from Russell Hardwell free-kicks were put high or wide and that was just part of the problem.

With five minutes left, Hardwell was tripped by Des Guile. As the free-kick came over Darren Akmenkalns arrived late and hanging at the far post, but was unable to keep his header below the bar.

A minute later, Hardwell again looped over a ball from the right, and this time Ian Browne flicked a header just past the far post. For more details see this week's Littlehampton Gazette.
