Fred catches tench and bream

Fishing the method with maggots on the hook, he caught 11 tench including fish of 9lb 11oz, 8lb 6oz and 6lb 8oz. He also caught a bream of 9lb on the same tactics, but as he was playing it in he had a bite on the other rod so he asked a friend, Terry Glebowski, to strike it. Terry hooked the fish which turned out to be a specimen bream of 12lb 6oz.

An angler travelled from Devon to fish Lodge Lake at Stream Valley Lakes where he fished with lobworms to catch specimen perch 3lb 8oz and 3lb 2oz. Lodge Lake is water where last year the British perch record was broken with a fish 5lb 15oz caught by an angler from Worthing.

However, the fish hasn't been seen since even though the lake has been fished by a number of perch specialists.

There were several good carp taken from the lake including a few over 20lb. Stuart Griffin, of Crowborough, fished with boilies and caught mirror carp 25lb 8oz and 24lb 12oz on Crab and Mussel boilies.

Tim Colliver fishing for 24 hours landed seven carp including a mirror of 17lb and Mick Akehurst caught a mirror 22lb 4oz.

The biggest carp from Kingfisher Lake fell to an angler from London who fished for 24 hours to land a mirror carp 30lb 2oz and on Iris lake Dave Clarke caught a mirror 29lb 12oz.

At Horam Manor the great pond is producing plenty of carp, tench, roach, rudd and crucians to all methods and baits, with sweetcorn, meat, maggots and bread taking most fish. Similar results were achieved on Lagoon and Clear Hedges where mixed bags of the same species were taken, but on Banky Fork and Long Water the same species were taken plus perch to 1lb 12oz on maggots and worms.

The biggest trout ever caught from Arlington Reservoir was hooked and landed from the bank.

Jim Bates of Eastbourne caught the fish, a rainbow weighing 18lb 8oz, on an Olive Boobie. During calm conditions a number of other rainbows were taken with an average weight of 2lb.

Yew Tree Trout Fishery also produced limit bags of rainbows to anglers fishing with Damsel Nymphs, Cats Whisker and Viva on floating and intermediate lines. Tim Crowther of Salehurst caught the biggest rainbow, a fish of 4lb 4oz.

At Brick Farm Lakes most anglers have been catching their limit bags of two or five trout from both Brick Lake and Well Lake. Every week rainbows into doubles have been caught mainly from Brick Lake and up to 13lb 8oz.
