Promotion would mean everything  - Rosenior

Rosenior, who made his return to action after six months out at Nottingham Forest on Saturday, was promoted into the top flight with Hull City in 2012/13.

The Seagulls have lost two successive Championship games but remain second in the table and on what getting to the Premier League with the Seagulls would mean to him, Rosenior said: "It would mean everything. It was great at Hull to be promoted, it was amazing.

"With that experience, I realised that it doesn't just affect the club, it affects the whole community. You see people proud to come from Brighton.

"I remember at Hull, you used to see Arsenal and Manchester United shirts everywhere but by the time I left there were little kids in Hull shirts everywhere. That's how football should be.

"This is a great area to live, this is a great club to play for and hopefully I can pay that back by helping the club and the community achieve something that, trust me, they all deserve."

Rosenior added that the Premier League is where all players want to be: “It changes your life. I’ve been lucky enough to achieve promotion to the Premier League before and lucky enough to play a lot of games in the Premier League.

“No disrespect to the Championship, but when you’re a little boy you want to be looking at your Messi’s and Ronaldo’s, playing at Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge and places like that.

“I’m 32 and I’m still a dreamer. These next 11 games are massive, but I can't see it in that way. The next game is against Rotherham and it’s hopefully another step towards achieving that dream."

Despite back-to-back defeats, Rosenior added: "We’re in a great position and we’ve been averaging more than two points per game. If you stay on that target, you’re almost guaranteed promotion.

“It’s about staying the course, not getting too high when you win and not getting too low when you lose.

“This time last week people were talking about Newcastle, how they’ve lost form and how they could fall out of the top two, but all of a sudden after two games, they’re now going to walk away with the league.

“That’s football. Now we’ve lost two games, everyone’s going to be asking the same questions about us.

“The Premier League is 38 games, this is 46 games and you have to stay the course. You have setbacks and if you overcome them, you’re able to get to where you want to be."
