Late goal sends United to another defeat

Hastings United suffered a fifth defeat in six league games with a 2-1 loss at Concord Rangers on Tuesday night.

Harry Elmes gave Concord a fourth minute lead, but Jamie Cade’s first United goal in the 74th minute looked to have salvaged a point.

Substitute Reece Harris struck the winner 10 minutes later, however, and another miserable night for United was capped by Jimmy Elford going to hospital with concussion.

Elsewhere, Sidley United maintained their fine form with a comprehensive 5-0 win at home to Rustington in round three of the Sussex RUR Charity Cup.

Goals from Liam Miles, Carl Morris and Terry Payne put Sussex County League Division One outfit Sidley three-up at half time against Division Two opposition.

Jason Taylor and Payne - with a stunning volley from Taylor’s corner - put the icing on the cake in the second half as Sidley set up a tough quarter-final away to Crawley Down.

Full reports on both matches will appear in Friday’s Observers.
