EP had suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday with a 3-2 loss in the FA Cup second qualifying round against Conference South leaders Boreham Wood.

However, goals from Darren Boswell, Shaun Charles, Joe Shelley, Dave Herbert and a late own goal ensured EP got back to winning ways against their County League Division 2 opponents.

The visitors made an ideal start as Boswell fired them in front after just two minutes.

EP had to wait until a minute before the break to net their second through Dave Herbert.

It took East Preston just four second-half minutes to make it 3-0 as Shelley netted his seventh of the season.

EP got their fourth 17 minutes from time when Charles netted.

It got worse for Oakwood as EP extended their advantage when a home player put through his own net.

The Division 2 outfit did pull a goal back with five minutes remaining through Charlie Absett but that was just a consolation as EP comfortably progressed.

EP boss Dominic Di Paola said: “It was a comfortable result and it was good to get the job done without picking up any injuries, really.”

East Preston will host Westfield in the next round.
