United played their first game in over a month on Saturday when they drew 1-1 at Storrington, before following that up with the same scoreline at home to Steyning on Tuesday night.

Those two draws keep United on a good run of form as they are unbeaten in six games, stretching back to November as a result of the inclement weather.

On Saturday, despite having the better chances, United could not quite grind out a win in what was their first match since January 11.

The visitors made a quick start to the contest and, after a period of sustained pressure, they took the lead on 25 minutes.

Mark Pedrick controlled a long goal-kick from keeper Jordan Matthews before playing a ball over the top of the Storrington defence to Ash Harper, who managed to poke home from close range.

United continued to control proceedings and could have been out of sight before the break, but Harper was scuppered by the Storrington keeper and Nathan Parke’s rasping effort struck a post.

The match seemed to follow a similar pattern at the beginning of the second half with the away side in the ascendency, and they would have doubled their lead but Matt Noble fired wide after a one-two with Joss Parsons.

The visitors took their foot off the gas and they were made to pay as Harry Jarrett struck a wonderful equaliser from distance on 65 minutes.

It was then Storrington’s turn to dominate but they could not capitalise and, in the end, both sides left with a point.

United manager Jon Tucker said: “We looked like we hadn’t played for a while but I think we had more than enough chances to win it.

“In all honesty, it was just good to get a game and the target now is to finish in the top five.”
