Defensive shut-outs for trio

Rye United began the second half of their Division One programme by contesting a 0-0 draw at home to Lancing in their first league match for four weeks. Fifth-bottom Rye are a point behind Lancing with four games in hand.

In Division Two, fifth-placed Bexhill United also fought out a goalless draw at home to third-placed Haywards Heath Town in their first outing of the month. Bexhill are nine points behind Heath having played an extra game.

Little Common won 2-0 at home to bottom club Midhurst & Easebourne thanks to a brace of first half goals from the division’s leading scorer Lewis Hole. Common are now level on points with Bexhill having played one less fixture.

Westfield’s scheduled trip to Oakwood in the quarter-finals of the Division Two Challenge Cup was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch, meaning Westfield still haven’t played since January 11.
