Butler felt all of his team performed to the best of their ability and said: “It was a complete performance from the whole side.

“In games you usually have a couple of players not at their best but everyone was.

“To go to Chichester, where we have struggled in the past and win in the way we did was a great confidence boost for this team.

“A few of the players were down after Saturday but this will lift the whole squad.”

The Mullets went ahead on six minutes when summer recruit Simon Clarke netted his first for his new side.

It was 2-0 just 15 minutes later when Josh Biggs cooly slotted into the bottom corner.

Jimmy Wild halved the deficit for Chichester on 24 minutes when he beat the offside trap and fired past Sam Marsden.

Butler’s side were not to be denied, though, and they wrapped up all three points thanks to Biggs’ 25-yard free kick 29 minutes from time.
