Dockers lay the bogy

Division Two Cup semi-finalNewhaven 1 Rustington 0(after extra time)The Dockers laid their Rustington bogy when they won through a hard-fought semi-final in extra time at Shoreham FC on Wednesday evening. They now face Pease Pottage Village in the final on Good Friday.

Manager Jason Tighe said: 'We were superb, fantastic and thoroughly deserved the win. We were outstanding all over the park, but the evening had not started so well as Gary Holmes failed a fitness test on his injured knee.

'We got at them right from the opening whistle and it proved a hard battle with few real chances. We kept the ball well all night and our goalkeeper Sean McFadden did not really have a save to make.

'Keiron Perkins and Ross Newman were brilliant for us up front the way they held the ball up.'

The winning goal came in the 107th minute when Mark Probert whipped the ball home. Tighe said: 'Ross reckons he got a touch but I'm giving the goal to Keiron.'

Newhaven: McFadden, Tighe, Edwards (Morley), Goddard (King), Saville, Probert, Marchesi, Breach, Hutchinson, Newman (Roberts), Perkins.

Tighe will appeal against his sending off in the goalless league draw at home to Haywards Heath on Saturday.

He said: 'Apparently I was sent off for using foul and abusive language but it wasn't me who said it. I'll definitely appeal against the decision.'
