Sidley out to cure travel sickness

While Scott Woodroffe’s side has collected the full house of 90 points from its opening three Sussex Division Three (East) matches at Gullivers, both away games so far have ended in defeat.

Sidley will be eager to put that right at Keymer & Hassocks tomorrow (Saturday) knowing that victory could take them back to the top of the table.

Woodroffe said: “If we want to stay up there, we’ve got to pick up points away from home and pick up a win. I keep saying it, but we’re not just going to roll up and win these games - we’ve got to earn the right to win them.”

Last weekend’s eight-wicket derby victory over Crowhurst Park has left Sidley in second place and within two points of leaders Lindfield, who they lost to on their last away trip a fortnight ago.

Sidley lost both matches against Keymer back in the 2009 season, including a final day shootout at Gullivers which resulted in the mid- Sussex outfit winning the title and Sidley having to settle for third.

But Keymer came straight back down last summer and have made a disappointing start to the current campaign, losing four of their first five matches to sit third-bottom.

They do, however, possess the most prolific bowler in the entire Sussex League so far in 2011 - Andy Westgate has picked up 22 wickets at 14.09. The highest score in four 1st XI innings at Keymer this term incidentally is 190.

Richard Harrison and Paul Nice are unavailable, but Ian Crittenden is set to return after missing the last three games through injury and Ian May’s transfer from Bexhill has finally gone through.

Chris Deeprose’s availability is in doubt due to work and a leg injury. Peter King should be fit despite taking the skin off the top of a finger while backing up a throw against Park.
