Big race entries launched as new 10k is announced

The 31st staging of the popular annual Hastings Lions Club-organised event will take place on Sunday March 22, 2015.

Forms are available at sport shops and centres, but the most popular way to enter is online at www.hastings-half.co.uk

Spire Sussex Hospital is again proud to be the main sponsor and its director Linda Dineen says it’s a privilege to support such an inspirational event which continues to break records for charity fundraising.

Two new sponsors have come on board for 2015; Bartletts Seat - who will supply the lead cars on the day - and property specialists Easylet.

The event is open for runners of all abilities over 17 years of age. Competitors can raise money for the charity or needy cause of their choice, and many businesses, clubs and groups put together teams to take part.

Insurance firm Saga is again sponsoring the Mini Run - a seafront race for children aged 11-16 which takes place during the main event. Entries are also now open.

As well as the half marathon, Hastings and Bexhill Lions Clubs are proud and excited to announce a new event for 2015.

A 10k race will take place along the new Bexhill-Hastings Link Road just prior to its anticipated opening in May 2015.

The event - from which all money raised will go back into the community - is expected to be very popular and will prove to be a unique experience before traffic starts using the road.

Because the actual race date cannot be announced until January/February 2015, those interested can register at www.hastings-half.co.uk to be on a waiting list and will be given first option to enter. The minimum age is 15.
