Bexhill give leaders a scare

BEXHILL Town remain rooted to the foot of the Sussex County League after slumping to a 2-0 defeat at home to Division Three leaders Steyning Town.

Although they lost, Gary Light s team showed enough during this match to suggest they are more than capable of pulling clear of the danger zone.

For much of this contest, the uninitiated would have been hard pressed to guess who were the bottom team and who were the top dogs as Bexhill created a stack of presentable chances.

The Green Machine were denied by the woodwork on no less than three occasions with Sam Rimmer striking the post and crossbar during his team s best spell at the start of the second half.

Steyning, who have only dropped six points in 18 games this season, rode their luck on numerous occasions but goals from Richard Lester and Paul Hawkins clinched victory.
