ARUNDEL RECOVER WELL

A DEVASTATING opening 10 overs from speed men Fitzroy Hodges and Paul Martin may have put an ironic end to Broadwater's chance of victory over leaders Arundel at The Green on Saturday.

Having combined to take five wickets for just three runs, they turned what could have been an Arundel quest for victory into a battle for survival.

That Steve Mullen's men eventually posted 149-8 was a glowing testament to the ship-steadying prowess of Steve Rishman and Nigel Scutt, who kept their heads nobly while all around were were losing theirs.

That solid sixth-wicket stand of 75 occupied 25 overs and with a hard-hit 42 in 40 balls from Mullen gave a small reminder why Arundel came to the match at the head of the table.
