Alcorn lands AAA title by centimetre

She took the AAA title at Birmingham's Alexandra Stadium on Sunday after a cliffhanging competition, to prove that she is genuinely the country's youngest No 1 at the discipline.

She added this to her four other crowns this year '” the English Schools, the Southern Counties, the AAA Indoors and the Southern Indoors. And she can add a sixth at Glasgow next month in the UK Schools Championship.

But Birmingham was mighty close. She won by a single centimetre with 11.78m from the English Schools bronze medallist Hannah Hewitson of Cheshire club Vale Royal who jumped 11.77m. Hayley Wright of Bournemouth had the bronze medal with 11.42m.
