Alan Ball Memorial race day at Goodwood

A RACE meeting in memory of former footballer Alan Ball, who died just over a year ago, is to be staged by Goodwood on Wednesday May 21.

Alan was a great horse racing fan and was good friends with lots of trainers, but in particular Mick Channon and Richard Hannon.

Evertonians Charlie McCann of Stan James bookmaker and Mike Parry of talkSPORT, are supporting the meeting. Charlie is putting up 500 which is the proceeds from a tip he received from Alan shortly before his death last year. Mike is putting up 500 and so too are Everton. All of this will go to a charity chosen by Alan Ball's stepson, Jimmy Ball.
