Wings Appeal Needs You

If you've any spare money the members of RAFA would love to have it.If you've any spare time they need that as well - there are simply not enough people coming forward to volunteer for the Wings Appeal this Saturday.

Anyone who can shake a tin in town will be welcome, it could be for just an hour or as long as you can manage.

RAFA president Ken Igglesden will be at the Albatross Club on Channel View on Saturday from 9am so that volunteers can turn up on the day.

The three day collection outside Sainsbury's raised 1,400 but this year's house-to-house effort has been a "disaster" as volunteers could not be found to take part.

Disappointed Ken is now relying on a strong street collection to make up a respectable total.

He said: "Even at the last minute we are hoping for people to step forward to volunteer on Saturday - if anyone wants to come forward they are more than welcome. It can be for however long they want. Some people do three or four hours, but we are just relying on anybody to do what they can."
