• We had a great time at our regular Traditional Irish tunes evening at The Royal Oak last Friday. The bar was busy, the atmosphere amazing and the music as fantastic as ever. Thanks to Jo and Paul for organising this wonderful session every month.

• Hopefully it will be nice weather over the Bank Holiday weekend coming up so that we can finally enjoy the garden. At The Royal Oak on Saturday 4th May Master Palmist Robin Lown and his guest Psychic Medium Grant Colyer will be performing in The Barn from 7.30pm. Tickets for this event are £12 each, or £10 each for groups of four or more. We have staged these Psychic Nights before and each time they have been a sell-out and everyone has been amazed at how accurate the readings have been. If you would like to come along, please call 01424 870492.

There will be several puddings to taste and a ticket for £7.50 includes a glass of dessert wine, port or sherry as well as the tasting of all those puddings. Admission is by advance ticket purchase only, so please call 01424 870492 to reserve your place.

• Pub quiz is still held every Thursday evening at The Royal Oak from 8pm for teams of up to six for just £1 per person entry. Always best to call and reserve a table if you know your team are coming along as it can get very busy!

• Steve has been hard at work on our Boules Piste in the garden for the start of the Boules League season next week. Matches are every Wednesday evening and all support would be very much appreciated. These evenings are always good fun and can get very competitive and it’s just a good excuse to come out for a drink mid-week - all in the name of sport of course! A full fixtures list is now on display in the pub.

• Whatlington Village Fete will be held in the field next to the Village Hall on Saturday 15th June this year. There will be a number of stalls, games and attractions including live music and the annual stool ball match. If you have any more ideas for stalls or events, please contact Angie on 01424 870087. We are always appreciative of help in the organisation of the day and of course to set up in the morning and clear up at the end, please contact Angie if you would like to get involved.
