Services at the Parish Church this Sunday, June 9, are Holy Communion at 8am and All Age Worship at 9.30am. On Wednesday there will be Holy Communion as usual at 9.30am on Wednesday, and mid-week Bible Study groups, at 59 Heathlands and at Cockmartin’s Farm, both at 7.30pm.

The mobile library calls today offering DVDs, audio books and reference services as well as book loans. Visit it at Geary Place from 2-2.40pm or Churchfield from 2.50-3.10pm. The van has a wheelchair lift so is fully accessible

Westfield Friendship Club meets in the Parish Hall on Monday, June 10 from 2-3.30pm. Come and enjoy bingo, whist and Scrabble over a cup of tea. New members are very welcome. Ring 01424 753095 for more information.

Westfield Women’s Institute meets in the Parish Hall on Tuesday, June 11 at 2.15 pm for the annual strawberry tea. The competition is a decorative cup and saucer. New members are warmly welcomed; please ring 01424 754013 for more information.

Have you entered your front garden for the village competition? Next Sunday, June 16 is the deadline for submitting your entry form. There are three classes (full garden, hanging basket/ planter/ box and decorative horticultural item), and forms are available from Westfield Horticultural Society or Westfield News.

The Friends of Westfield Church invite you to a strawberry tea in the delightful gardens of Church Place Farm (opposite the church) on Sunday, June 23 from 3-4.30pm. If the weather is poor it will be held in the Parish Hall.

The Westfield Community Association AGM takes place in the Community Dining Hall on Monday, June 24 at 7.30pm, starting with wine and nibbles. This is for all individual Westfield residents as well as representatives of village organisations.

This year’s Westfield Village Fete on Saturday, July 6 is fast approaching. The theme is ‘Bees’, so ‘buzz along’ and make a make a ‘beeline’ for the school field from 1-4pm. There will be the usual stalls, refreshments and barbecue, and arena events include fancy dress, dancing displays and races. Call 0795 263 5448 for details, to book a table or to offer help.
