Nine-year-old Daisy Harding sacrificed her flowing locks on Friday May 10 at Strands Hair Salon off East Street.

She will make the donation to The Little Princess Trust - a charity specialising in real-hair wigs for cancer suffers.

Daisy was inspired to make the donation by a friend. She did it for her grandmother and second cousin who have both lost their hair through cancer.

Proud mum Naomi said Daisy’s efforts have raised nearly £1,000 for the charity.

“She’s so brave,” added Naomi.

Meanwhile, seven-year-old Emily Robins, a pupil at Warnham Primary School, is preparing to get 25cm chopped off of her long blonde mop on May 28 by Warnham-based hairdresser Becky Strafino.

Nervous Emily said: “It’s been cut in a bob before but I’m feeling a bit scared. I thought of doing it because my sister wanted to do something for charity and so I wanted to and my mum found out about this charity and I think they will feel happy.”

A cake sale will also take place outside A & R Bailey’s Butcher, Warnham, on Saturday, May 18 at 9am.

Emily’s mum Lauren, 38, said: “I’m very proud of her. She’s very excited. She’s been trying to do something for about a month and I think she saw that Jessie J did it on TV.

“It costs £350 to make a wig so she wanted to raise that money so it could be made as well.”

She added that Emily wants to style her hair like The Saturday’s Frankie.
