United Reformed Church Garden Party

A 'HAPPY atmosphere' was to be found at the BEXHILL United Reformed Church's annual Summer Garden Party on Saturday.

The event, which was well attended, was officially opened by the Church's newly inducted minister, Reverend Andrew Berry.

Addressing the crowd he said: "You must all enjoy yourselves this afternoon; thank you to everyone who has helped organise this event for all their hard work, thank you to everyone who has attended, and welcome."

Stalls, both on the church's lawn's and inside the church, had a variety of interesting items to purchase including bric a brac, tapes, cards, home-made cakes, preserves and pies. Refreshments of teas, coffees and cakes were served.

Trevor's book stall proved popular as did the Name the Teddy game; background music was provided by John Black.

Just over 531 was raised for church funds and Church Secretary Michael Randall said he was "delighted" with the results, adding: "The weather kept fine and it was a happy atmosphere."
