TV's Kaddy opens outdoor pool

KING Neptune's return to Lewes can mean only one thing - the Pells Pool is open again for business.

The strident god with the trident rod (aka Pells Pool trustee Meic Goodyear) was joined by BBC weather girl Kaddy Lee-Preston to launch another season at the popular outdoor pool.

Despite some murky weather around 100 people turned out to see the traditional annual launch.

The best news of the day came with Kaddy's long-range weather forecast when she predicted the weather would improve.

This was welcome news for everyone considering last years' grotty summer which saw trade at the pool hit but still loyally supported by Lewesians.

The pool is owned by Lewes Town Council which spends 10,000 each year on upkeep.

The Mayor of Lewes, Cllr Michael Chartier, was joined by Mark Sewell of Clancy Docwra, who handed over a cheque for 1,000 to the Pells Pool Community Association, the charity trust which manages the pool.
