Person dies after crash near service station

A person has died after a crash between two vehicles on a main road near Lewes today (Sunday February 7).

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “At 11am on Sunday February 7, police were called to the Newmarket Service Station on the A27 near Lewes, to reports of a collision between two vehicles.

“A collision occurred between a blue Toyota Aygo and a silver Renult Kangoo.

“Three persons were involved in the collision. Sadly, one person has died at the scene.

“One person was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital with serious injuries and one person was uninjured.

“Police are currently investigating the cause of the collision.”

Officers are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the Renault Kangoo driving on the A27 prior to the collision to contact them.
