Town is going the whole hog for Boar Week

There are also plenty of things for children to do as the event falls on half term.

Throughout the week, children will be able to following the Wild Boar Hog Hunt in the shop windows around Rye.

Forms for those wanting to take part in the hunt can be found online or upstairs in the toy department of Adams of Rye.

Completed forms can be exchanged for a chocolate bar.

Other events taking place through the week include woodland, beach and nature reserve walks organised by the Sussex Wildlife Trust.

On Sunday November 1, the Rye Longbowmen will be setting up wild boar targets to allow people to have a go at firing arrows from a longbow at the Ypres Castle Inn garden.

Please note that this activity will cost a small fee.

Venues have organised an enormous amount of live music for the duration of Wild Boar Week, including bands and musicians such as; Suspect, Skinner’s Rats, Phil Trainor, Clea Rose and David Kirkwood, Roger Carey and Andy Williams, Rye Ukulele Experiment, Phil Law, Titus, Rye Bay Crew, The Rockitmen, Wakin’ Snakes and the Leigh Highwood Band.

And with Halloween falling during Wild Boar Week, on Friday October 30, there will be some suitably spooky ghost stories being told at Lamb House and a Halloween Ball at the Milligan Theatre.

Last week it was revealed that no fewer than 28 venues will be serving up some wild boar and other game dishes during the week-long foodie festival.

Now in its fifth year, Wild Boar Week will be taking place between Saturday October 24 and Sunday November 1, with a host of eateries in and around Rye set to offer an array of gamey treats including mallard, partridge pheasant, rabbit and venison.
