Thief steals wallet after breaking into Bexhill pensioner's flat

An elderly man had his wallet stolen from his flat in the middle of the night in Bexhill last week.

A man in his eighties was woken by a noise and saw a man who had entered his De La Warr Parade flat but then go away through an open window sometime between 11pm and 2am on Monday, February 15.

The thief took a wallet containing cash and cards which he had found in the flat.

The victim was not threatened or attacked.

The suspect was wearing a very distinctive suede or sheepskin hat, and pale red trousers.

Detective Constable Mark Waughman said “We would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area or who recognises the man in the CCTV image.

“If you can help please contact us via [email protected] or call 101, quoting serial 356 of 16/02.”
