ROTHER cabinet took the unusual step on Monday of resolving to extend its thanks to a Bexhillian for his long voluntary service.
On the recommendation of chief executive Derek Stevens, the meeting voted unanimously to thank former Bexhill Carnival Committee chairman, vice chairman and arena convenor John Cox for his long service and his contribution to carnival and its fund-raising for local charities.
John has recently stood down after nearly 40 years voluntary service with Bexhill Carnival.
Cllr Deirdre Williams said: "I am really pleased with this recommendation. We need people like that who really take an interest in the community for the benefit of the residents of Bexhill."
