Suspicious callers prompt police warning

POLICE are warning residents in Worthing to be cautious of callers after an attempted distraction burglary in Warwick Gardens.

A man asked to enter a house, claiming his son had kicked a ball into the garden. The owner refused and it was later discovered that there was not a ball in the garden. This happened on September 3.

Jill Pedersen, spokeswoman for police in Worthing, said: "We are asking residents to be cautious of callers at the door, whether they are wanting to sell something, ask for refreshments or even retrieve a ball from the garden.

"Police recommend that you do not let strangers in and always ensure your doors and

windows are locked whether you are in the garden or house."
