Spring fair for Labour

Bexhill and Battle Labour Party held a spring fair at St Andrew's church hall in Wickham Avenue on Saturday morning.

Chairman Bob Walker commented: "We are trying hard to make money - this is for party funds of Bexhill and Battle Labour Party, but we have also invited others to take stalls, such as the local Fairtrade committee.

"It has been interesting because we are in a smaller hall this year, but quite a few people have come along, and we are doing a nice raffle which resulted in 20-odd prizes.

"This is for campaign funds. I am quite pleased with it here, I think we have done not too badly today."

Attractions at the event included a Sunken Treasures game for youngsters, as well as the old-fashioned Bagatelle.

The Bexhill Bag Ladies ran a stall selling handmade bags, boxes and knick-knacks...they were sisters Hilary Webb and Josephine Turnball accompanied by their mother Dorothy Webb who commented: "It's sociable here - we get to meet other people."
