Sheep savaged by Dogs

Two sheep were killed and a third mauled in a savage dog attack at the weekend.

Now owner Gillian Stone is desperate for witnesses to come forward with information about what happened at Potman's Lane.

Gillian had already lost a ewe which was ripped apart six weeks ago.

She said: "I want a bit of help from the public, from anyone who lives in Crowhurst, Catsfield, or Watermill Lane, or anyone who has seen dogs running loose in the area.

"Please let me know because this will just continue to happen.

"I am terrified."

Gillian has a smallholding off Potman's Lane where she keeps the South Down sheep she thinks of as pets rather than livestock.

She had 26 but now there are just 23, including Buffy, the young ewe with injuries so severe the vet said there was only a 50/50 chance she would stay alive.

"It is an absolute mirracle that she got away. I can't believe she has survived."

Community Support officer Andrea Gallastegui said police investigations were on going, and confirmed there had been an earlier attack although there was nothing to link the two incidents at present. Sussex Police have taken advice from the vet called in by Gillian and also the RSPCA.
