CAR TREASURE HUNT: Sedlescombe and District Garden society next event is a car treasure hunt on Saturday August 29 organised by Rod Eldridge. All participants to meet at the village hall car park by 2pm with pen in hand. The route should last about one and half to two hours, but this will depend upon how good you are at answering the clues. The route will be finishing at a local hostelry for obvious reasons. The police have been informed of the event and will be looking out for “stray and lost” motorists on the day. The cost will be £3.00 per car so you are advised to pack as many “knowledgeable” people in the car as possible as there will be prizes for first, second and third winners. The event is open to members and guests only so maybe this is the time to join if you would like to take part in the event? ST JOHN THE BAPTIST PARISH CHURCH: Margaret writes:” another busy Saturday in the life of our church, we were blessed with good weather for the annual summer fair making it a very successful afternoon, lots of visitors browsing the stalls and games of chance with lots of laughter from the human fruit machine. Tea and cake in the sunshine rounded off the afternoon. Well, all this raised £650 for funds add to that £464 from the very successful flower festival last weekend making a very good result all round. Lots of hard work by lots of people , Thank you ALL “

MINI MARKET AND COFFEE MORNING: On Thursday September 3, the mini market will be in Sedlescombe village hall from 10.00am to 11.30am. There will be the usual stalls plants, cakes bric a brac, lots of books and puzzles plus a chance to check your weight, in confidence of course, for 50p. Tea, coffee and scones for just a £1 each. Do go along and join in this friendly get together. All proceeds towards St John the Baptist Parish Church.

CREAM TEAS: Date for your diary . Saturday September 6 tehre will be cream teas in the Rectory garden. More details next week

TALENT NIGHT IN SEDLESCOMBE: We are still on the hunt for performers for the above event. Do you love to entertain? Then come and be part of the show to be held in Sedlescombe village hall on Friday 18 September from 7pm. There is no entry fee and performers from all areas are welcome but limited spaces to give everyone a fair chance to shine on stage. There is a £100 first prize donated by Dorton Reclamation along with money prizes for the runners up. Audience tickets will be on sale soon, there will be a bar and food available through the evening, so please mark your diaries to either take part or come along to enjoy the event. Organised by the Friends of Sedlescombe Church Heritage Trust. To book your place to perform on the night please call Jean Dann on 882438.

MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT: Wednesday September 2. Merriments Gardens are to be open in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, 10am-5.30pm Admission £7, children free. This is a very worthwhile charity and funds are desperately needed. Every penny raised on that day will go to the charity.’
