Runners take part in 13th Eastbourne Half Marathon

Drizzly conditions didn't dampen the spirits of participants or spectators in the Eastbourne Half Marathon yesterday (Sunday, March 5).

Runners started in Princes Park and travelled west along the seafront before looping back to Sovereign Harbour and finishing where they started.

First place male went to Thomas Payn, with a time of 1hr.13min, while Katie Hilsdon was fastest female at 1.31.

Meanwhile, younger runners took part in an under-12s 1k and under-17s 2k, with runners Tom Davies (in 3.40) and Jake Nixon (in 7.33) taking the top spots in their respective races.

The half marathon has raised more than £130,000 for good causes over the years – with this 13th year’s main charities being Chestnut Tree House and the RNLI.
