Roof firm boss on manslaughter charge

A ROOFING boss has appeared in court to face manslaughter and health-and-safety charges.

Colin Cooper, from IC Roofing of Lower Dicker, appeared at Eastbourne Magistrates Court.

The charges relate to the death of employee Darren Hoofe, 20, from Newhaven who died after falling 20ft through a roof skylight onto a factory floor.

The incident happened at the Bellbrook Industrial Estate, Uckfield, on November 29, 2005.

The case was adjourned for a preliminary hearing at Lewes Crown Court on May 30.
