Robertsbridge village voice

Somewhere between Saturday evening and Sunday morning a car was damaged in the public car park in Station Road. The front of the car was badly smashed with an estimated cost of £1700 worth of damage. If you know of the person who did this or was that person and would like to own up can you go into either the Floral Boutique or the Post Office and give the details.

Tomorrow is clear up day for the Pocket Park and Bishops Meadow. If you have a few hours spare and would like to help the local community as well as getting some exercise in the fresh air please contact Peter Massini on 880353 or [email protected] for further details. No experience needed but if you have secateurs, or loppers or similar garden tools it would be a great help to take them with you.

Tomorrow evening Saturday 17th March is Poker Night at Robertsbridge Club. You have to have registered to play by 7.30pm and entry is £5.00

Sunday is Mothers Day, as I type there are a few tables still available at The George, ring 880315 for availability. You can buy all your needs in the village, flowers, plants, chocolates, jewellery, wine, so with fuel prices being so high and car parking costs in the bigger towns make sure you use the local village shops to save pounds in the long run.

Wednesday 21st March is Tea Dance Party at Robertsbridge Club between 2pm – 4.30pm. £3.50 for the afternoon’s entertainment and refreshments and helping to raise funds for Robertsbridge Bonfire Society.

Thursday 22nd March is Race Night at Robertsbridge Community College. First Race is at 7.30pm. Why not go along and have a flutter and a fun evening out.

Live music is returning to The George on Sundays starting next week on Sunday 25th March at 5pm. The first band of the season is `Local Heroes `

Bonfire Night is just a distant memory now, but to continue with the great event in November work has already started to get the event under way for this year. The AGM is on Friday 30th March at Robertsbridge Club starting at 8.30pm. New members are always welcome and this year a new committee is also needed. If you would like to be part of this society and would like to be considered for a top job then please contact Roger on 880639 or pop in and see Sandie at the Floral Boutique and she will point you in the right direction.

Salehurst Primary School SSA has had a very successful couple of events in February with the school disco and a Quiz Night raising over £1000.00 both were well supported with good attendance. This month there is to be an Easter event for the children on Friday 23rd March. In June there will be a Barn Dance and of course in July there is the School Summer Fete. Please keep an eye out for details either in the school or in this column.

Funds raised last month went towards the upcoming trip for year 5-6 to the Paralympics, a range of phonics equipment for Key Stage 1, with £200.00 towards new instruments, £200.00 towards Bikeability for Year 6 and also a new camera for year 6. This came to a total of £1400.00 pledged by the SSA for the children in February. You can see by this how important this group is for our local school and children so if you can support please do, every little helps.
