Road closed after serious crash at Udimore

Police are attending a serious road traffic collision outside Sowdens Oast on the B2089 Udimore Road, near Rye.

They were called at 1.27pm today, Monday 24 February, after a Ford Ka hatchback car and a lorry collided head-on. A telegraph pole was also damaged in the collision.

A woman passenger in the Ford suffered cuts to her head and two other passengers, both men, the elder of whom was the driver, were also hurt.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex air ambulance is in attendance and has landed in a nearby field.

The road has been closed between its junction with the A28 at Broad Oak, Brede, and Float Lane, Rye, while emergency services are at the scene.
